RECEIVED APR 09
Supreme Court, Hongkong,
15th March, 1909,
Sir,
I have the honour to acknowledge Your Excellency's letter of 12th instant on the subject of the Registry.
2. With reference to paragraph 2, I confess to being a little puzzled as to its meaning. I should be glad to know whether Your Excellency intended to convey to me the fact that you disbelieve the statements that I have made, but believe those made by Mr. Seth. I am unwilling to think that this is Your Excellency's meaning; but should it unfortunately be Your Excellency's meaning I have the honour to request an interview with Your Excellency before the papers go home to the Secretary of State.
3. With reference to paragraph 3, the position assumed by Your Excellency which I intimated was 'entirely satisfactory' related to the question of the Registry.
I have etc.,
(Sd.) F. T. Piggott,
Chief Justice.
Sir Frederick Lugard, K.C.M.G., Governor of Hongkong.
