The Chief Justice has addressed to me the attached letter for transmission to Your Lordship and I have therefore the honour to forward it with my reply in accordance with Colonial Regulations 211 and 212.
2. His Honour in this letter makes certain statements in regard to himself as in the 3rd and 4th lines of the 4th paragraph and in forwarding this letter without any detailed criticism of those passages I would desire that Your Lordship should not understand that I endorse them.
3. Your Lordship is already in possession of the facts which were set out in the voluminous correspondence forwarded under cover of my Despatches Nos. 243 of 22nd September and 263 of 15th October last.
