The discussion for re-establishing a University has been somewhat surprising in that it has wandered on for a year or so without having come to any definite conclusion. The explanation is this.
Heretofore principals have been put forward with a scheme, as a rule not very clearly defined, but shortly, it is this. The promoters will provide the funds for buildings, if the Govt will provide a site.
The Govt asks for the Secretary of State's approval for a site and also (though not very definitely) for Imperial help towards the endowment.
A Studds Fiddes suggests francs help to the Govt.
