In order to meet the convenience of the Colonial Government, by whom it is understood the information is required at an earlier date than is usual in other Colonies, I am directed by the Comptroller and Auditor General to enclose, for the information of the Earl of Crewe, an estimate of the amount which, as at present foreseen, will be required for the cost of the Audit of the accounts of Hong Kong for the year 1909.

I am at the same time to inform you, with reference to your letter No. 19161 of the 16th ultimo, that a separate communication will be addressed to you shortly on the subject of the payment by the Colonies concerned of the proportionate shares of the pension liability in respect of the past service at Headquarters of existing members of the late Colonial Audit Branch of this Department.
