I am directed by the Earl of Crewe to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 29th June (21661) forwarding a copy of a letter from the China Association with regard to the maintenance of the British Post Office at Tientsin, and to state that in reply to a similar communication addressed to this Department, the Association have been informed that the question of the maintenance of the British Postal Agencies in China is still under the consideration of His Majesty's Government.

Lord Crewe is still awaiting an expression of the views of the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury on the question of the maintenance of the Agency at Tientsin. Their Lordships were reminded of the matter on the 30th June.
