I have had the honour to receive your telegram of this Series No 4 of the 29th instant respecting the rejection of Chinese coolies at Salina Cruz.

As I reported in my Despatch No 90 Commercial of the 11th instant the Representative of the China Commercial Steamship Company has despatched all the vessels with the coolies on board to Hong Kong, and these will be re-examined on their arrival at that port by the Medical Authorities.

I have not addressed any further Note to Señor Mariscal in the sense of your telegram, the time for the action proposed in my telegram No 5 Commercial having passed with the departure of the coolies for Hong Kong.

I have received through His Majesty's Consul at Salina Cruz a Despatch, dated the 3rd ultimo, from the Colonial Secretary at Hong Kong, enclosing a letter from the
