I HAVE the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your note of the 12th instant, informing me of the investigations respecting opium which are being carried on by Opium Commission in the United States, and suggesting that similar investigations should be carried on by the Commissions of the other countries who will participate in the proposed Joint Opium Commission at Shanghae.
The suggestion put forward by your Excellency will receive the early attention of His Majesty's Government.
