Chinese immigrants at Salina Cruz JUL 28 1908.

In his Note No: 90 of June 18th attention was called by the British Minister to the case of the British S.S. "Suisang" from Hong Kong with 518 immigrants on board. Of these 404 were declared unfit to land on account of trachoma. Dr. Luis Buhot and Dr. Angel Vallarino were sent by the British Company to Salina Cruz, and they reported that, of the 404 rejected 285 were free from trachoma,

In view of the divergence of medical opinion on this point, which has the most serious importance for the China Commercial Steamship Company Limited, the British Minister thought the matter be carefully considered.

Another vessel, chartered by the same Company, has subsequently arrived at Salina Cruz, and yet another is expected during the present month. It seems, therefore, in every way desirable that the question of diagnosing the disease
