The thanks of the Japanese Government for the mediation of His Majesty's Government have been conveyed to me by the Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs on behalf of Count Hayashi. The valuable services rendered by Sir John Jordan in securing a satisfactory settlement of the difficulty fully recognized and greatly appreciated.
