SECTION 1.
Board of Trade to Foreign Office,~(Received February 26.)
Sir,
Board of Trade, February 25, 1908. WITH reference to your letter of the 27th ultimo, transmitting a paraphrase of a telegram from His Majesty's Ambassador at Tokio relative to the proposed Convention with Japan for the mutual protection of British and Japanese trade-marks in China and Corea, I am directed by the Board of Trade to state, for the information of Sir E. Grey, that they are of opinion that, if the present paragraph 2 of Article I be omitted and the paragraph proposed in their letter of the 15th ultimo be substituted for it, the addition to Article II now suggested by Sir C. MacDonald might be adopted.
I am, &c. (Signed) H. LLEWELLYN SMITH.
