SECTION 2.
Sir,
Foreign Office, January 15, 1908. WITH reference to the letter from this Department of the 25th November, 1907, I am directed by Secretary Sir E. Grey to transmit to you, to be laid before the Board of Trade, a copy of a despatch from His Majesty's Minister at Peking on the subject of the proposed Chinese Regulations for the registration of trade-marks."
This matter is not being pursued at present, pending the conclusion of an Arrange- ment with Japan for the mutual protection of British and Japanese trade-marks in China.
As you are aware, a draft Convention has been put forward by the Japanese Government in this latter connection, but, pending the receipt of the Board's observa- tious thereon in reply to the letter from this Department of the 6th ultimo, no answer has been returned to the Japanese Government.
