No. 1.

327

Sir,

Chinese Central Railways to Foreign Office.-(Received December 18.)

110, Cannon Street, E.C., December 12, 1907. AT a meeting of my Directors held to-day it was decided to send the following cablegram to Mr. Bland :-

"We are informed question of signing Tien-tsin-Yang-tsze Railway Final Agree- ment independently of Soochow-Ningpo Railway loan has been left to the discretion of Sir John Jordan if he agrees. Board of Directors authorize you to sign Agreement.” My Board understand that Sir John Jordan is of opinion that there is now no objection to the Agreement for the Tien-tsin-Yang-tsze Railway being signed inde- pendently of that for the Soochow-Ningpo Line, and also that if such be the case the British and Chinese Corporation will offer no opposition to such signature.

I have, &c. (Signed) THOS. GILBERT, Secretary,
