Gentlemen:-
In reply to your letter of the 13th instant
I am directed by Secretary Sir E. Grey to inform you
that no report has yet been received from His Majes-
ty's Consul Generel at Shanghai with regard to the
payment of duty on the estate of the late Mrs. Janet
Harman.
I am to point out that it takes at least
three months to get an answer from Shanghai and to
inform you that any information obtained by His
Majesty's Consul-General shall be communicated to you
without delay.
