Sir:-
In reply to your letter No.29446 dated 14th
September last asking whether the Secretary of State
for India sees any objection to the extension of the
duties of the United States Naval Attaché at Peking
to include the British possessions in the Far Fast,
I am directed by Mr. Secretary Morley to say that,
so far as India is concerned, he is unable to ap-
prove the request.
In view of the recent correspondence ending
with your letter No.42565 of 27th December 1906 Mr.
Morley 18 of the opinion that it is at present un-
desirable to make any departure from the custom hith-
erto observed.
