give this last named opinion, as we have previously
stated, in the absence of definite data with regard to
the tidal currents and the extent to which they may be
expected to be active in the conveyance or removal of silt.

We should here point out that there is, practi
cally speaking, no spending foreshore or slope along the
landward margin of the enclosed area, the latter mostly
consisting of allotment walls. It is therefore of impor-
tance, in view of this feature, to exclude the typhoon
seas, as far as it is possible to do so consistent with
the promotion of safe and easy ingress and egress.
30.
Upon referring to the charts of the Port it will
be observed that the southern entrance to the proposed
Harbour, practically abuts on the Man of War anchorage
opposite the Royal Naval Depot. It will doubtless be con-

Admiralty, with a view to ascertain how far, if at all, the
traffic to and from the new Harbour, through the southern
entrance will interfere with berthing in, or the use of,
