Dear Antrobus,

The

Referring to your letter of the 27th October, No:

36969, relative to the selection of a site for a typhoon

refuge in Hong Kong Harbour, the Admiralty have, generally

speaking, no objection to make to the site selected for the

proposed harbour, but before replying to your ******** letter

officially they thought it would be desirable that they

should have the opinions of one or two officers who were per-

sonally acquainted with the conditions of the harbour,

difficulty is that the officer who would have the latest

information, i.c. the late Commodore at Hong Kong Admiral

Stokes, does not arrive in England until the 5th December, and it might not be possible to arrange a meeting immediately on his arrival. Your letter is marked "pressing" but I am

afraid a good deal of time has already been taken in the con- sideration of the subject and I should be glad to know whether o few days longor would be a serious matter so far as your

action is concerned.

Will you please let me know whether it will

meet
