We now have the honour to offer the following remarka}-
We endorse His Excellency's opinion that Sonemes
2 and 3 are both preferable to Scheme 1 owing to the
difficulty of acosas to the last named from the ferry
ateamers and from the fact that a considerable portion of the
valuable deep water wharf at Blackheads Point would be
absorbed by the Station premises while the berth itself
would be more or lesa obstructed by the proposed position
of the Passenger Landing Stage.
We send herewith sketchos marked Scheme 2 A.and
Sohome 3 B. with an explanatory meripandum on each showing
how we consider the areas proposed in Scuemes 2 and 3 might
be utilized. The advantages of Scheme 2 will we think be
at once obvious.
Scheme 3 necessitates that all the lines
will approach the Station by curves sharper than we taint
advisable as we do not consider that curves of less radius
than 12 chains should be employed in so important a temima
if they can be avoided.
Even when sharper curves are used
a much larger area of the reclaimed land is required under
Scheme 3 than for Scheme 3 ant a considerable space is left
between two passenger lines and Des Voeux Road whion wold
be of comparatively little use.
Morewer Soheme 3 involves
much of the platforma being m sharp curves.
