We forwarded to the Consulting Engineers a copy of your letter of the 22nd of May No.11861/1908 and its onclosures having reference to the proposed construction of a breakwater off Mongkoktsui and I have now the honour to transmit for the information of the Secretary of State
3rd July 1908 a copy of a letter which we have received from them stating
that there are certain engineering details involved in the proposal which in their opinion are sufficiently important to justify a consultation in this country with the Colonial Executive Engineer, Mr Boulton.

2. Messrs Coode Son & Matthews are of opinion that the cost of the work would justify the expense of Mr Boulton's journey to England and we would therefore suggest that the telegram recommended in the last paragraph of their letter should be despatched to the Colony.
3. I take this opportunity of informing you that your letter of the 9th of June and its enclosures regarding the purchase of a dredger locally in connection with the construction of the proposed breakwater has been communi- cated to the Consulting Engineers for their information.
