With reference to your letter of the 17th ultimo I am directed to inform you that owing to the weak state of the Silver market the Colonial Government does not propuse to sell its stock of subsidiary coin for the present.

With reference to your letter of the 13th of January and previous correspondence with regard to the proposed disposal by the Government of Hong Kong of surplus subsidiary coins, Lay 1908 I enclose a copy of a telegram which we have received from
the Colonial Government and shall be glad to receive your observations in the matter.
