I have also reason to know that certain minor incidents in

which I have had confidential dealings with the German

Consul General have left a very cordial impression upon

his mind, and he assured me that he was communicating

fully to Berlin the gratitude which he was good enough to

say that he felt in the matter.

I should not venture to trouble

Your Lordship with these matters in ordinary circumstances,

but have thought that I might perhaps be of interest to

Your Lordship to know that in a place such as this where

we are in such constant contact with the nationals of other

European countries our relations with the representatives

of the two Powers named are at the present moment on an

exceptionally cordial basis.

I have the honour to be,

My Lord,

Your Lordship's most obedient,

humble servant,

Mugari

Governor,&C.
