During the absence of Dr. Valenzuela and

until such time as I receive further instructions from the

Mexican Government, I have the pleasure of appointing you a6

the Medical Officer of this Consulate for the inspection of

emigrants whose destination is any point of the Mexican Re-

-public.

The diseases which if found in any of the

emigrants, you will not allow them to pass, are the following:-

Bubonic Plague, Cholera, Yellow Pever,

Cerebro-spinal Meningitis, Small-pox, Scarlet Fever, Measles,

Diphteria, Typhus Tever, Typhus exanthematic, Serofula, Paludism

(actually suffering from) Beri-hari, Tracoma, Itch, or any

extensive skin disease, whether of syphilitic or any other

origin.

You will please collect the usual fees from

the emigrants, it being understood that this Consulate will not

be called upon to pay any charge whatever.
