This contains an interesting table showing
the numbers of Passengers examined in Hongkong, numbers rejected here, numbers embarked and finally the numbers rejected at Salina Cruz after the return of Dr. Valenzuela. These figures are for the sailings of the China Commercial Stearnship Company
alone; the figures for 1907 were prior to the days of special
examination for Trachoma.
11th. Noverber, 1908.
(sd.) G. P. Jordan,
H.O.P.
These papers were delayed in order to
obtain these figures from the Steam Ship Companies concerned
and thus make the answer complete.

Enclosure p is a table of passengers
examined during the same period that is from November 2nd., 1907,
to January 18th., 1908, by Dr. Hough for America and Dr. Valenzuela for Mexico. In the former case 63% are passed and in the latter case only 174. These figures speak for themselves.
Dr. Liceaga in his report names various
places which Dr. Valenzuela studied Trachoma. These ports nared
are simply the places at which Dr. Valenzuela called on his way
out. Macao is named as one of the places; it is well known that
there is no attempt at the study or systematic treatment of this
disease at this Port. At Canton there is no attempt at treatment
of this disease, except in the Missionary Hospitals where only well
advanced cases go for treatment.
