(a). Report by Dr. G. P. Jordan, Health Officer
of this Port, with 6 enclosures.
(b). Letter from the Consul for Mexico concerning
the circumstances in which he appointed
Dr. Gröne as Medical Officer to examine
emigrants to Mexico.

The statistics adduced by Dr.
Jordan show that the views held by Dr. Valenzuela on the
subject of trachoma are abnormal.

With reference to Mr. Reginald
Tower's Despatch of the 31st. of August, I have to state
that on the return to Hongkong of the vessels of China
Commercial Steamship Company the coolies dispersed to
China
their homes without Medical examination; and that the
