The usual percentage given everywhere is
80% of the freight, leaving 20% to the line that takes the
running powers, in order to cover its working expenses in the
matter of staff, coal, etc., in hauling the traffic.
I may be that in this case B will stand out
for a little more than 80% and I should be even disposed to
grant full 85%. For this 80 or 85% A is supposed to allow B the
use of all its station accommodation, lines and facilities
which exist at the time the running powers are granted and
which A has to maintain for its own traffic.
It also included all such extra facilities
as may be necessary for acrrying B's traffic through roadside
stations, (because A obtains certain advantages from the extra
traffic that passes over it). B hauls all the traffic with his
own engines, finds all the Running Staff, and Running Stores,
but its staff are bound by all A's rules while running on A's
line. B pays for all damage to A's line caused by defective
stock,
