Herewith the report signed by Mr Willians and ayself. Mr. Willians has appended a rider with regard to No. 4 Bridge. The course he recommends will be costly, without being so
reliable in its results as demolition and reconstruction on
on a piled foundation.
The best course would be to obtain tenders for both methods of dealing with the bridge and it would thus be seen what the difference in cost would be.
With regard to Bridge No. 33 it has been found possible to obtain two borings, the results of which have just reached ne.
They show that the bridge is founded on hard material.
A few more botings are being taken along the line and
I will report the results as soon as they reach me,
