Coolies.

The rats collected dropped over 50% in first week in August when the people discovered that to allow rats to be caught meant the turning of their shops and houses.

Total infected rats in Victoria up to June 30th - 2,549 of which only 43 were found in houses result of the turning out of shops etc. for plague rats found in streets.

Total infected rats in Victoria to end of July = 624 of which 222 from houses which were then washed out.

Total infected rats in Victoria to end of July = 622 of which 333 from houses which were then washed out.
