My Lord,

I have the honour to request that Your Lordship

may be pleased to allow my name to be noted for considera-

tion when the appointment of Colonial Civil Engineer in

the Straits Settlement becomes vacant which I understand

is likely to be the case at no very distant date.

2. I am nearly 44 years of age and my profes-

sional experience extending now over a period of 22 years

is noted in the Colonial Offics records. I have been 91-

ployed over 5 years in my present post and am anxious to

obtain promotion in the service.

I have the honour to be,

My Lord,

Your Lordship's most

obedient Servant,

Prst Sones

Assistant Director of Public Works.

The Right Honourable,

The Secretary of State for the Colonies.
