In continuation of my letter of 22nd.

instant, I have the honour to enclose for transmission to the

Secretary of State two Memoranda: one a statement of the case

with regard to the Eyrie: secondly, a brief statement of the

difficulties I experienced on arrival in obtaining a suitable

house, with a request that the Secretary of State will consider

the advisability of sanctioning an official house for the

Chief Justice subject to such conditions as he may think advia-

-able.

2. I trust that these memoranda are in time

for despatch by the English Kail this week.
