Gentlemen,
180 Strathmartire Foad,
Dundee.
14th January, 1909.
I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your
memorandum of the 12th January 1909 M.Police 91.
In it you state I cannot have a passage
for my wife by mail steamer unless I defray the
difference between the cost of an intermediate and
a mail one.
I most respectfully beg to draw your
attention to a copy of an extract (attached) of
leave regulations of my agreement of the Hong Kong
Police Force which you have of the same.
At section 8 or note under 8 specially
marked in pencil I am entitled to 2nd class passage
for myself and wife.
I further beg to state I cannot see what special authority is required from the Colonial Office as requested by you.
If such is required I have no objections
to write to the Secretary of State for the same.
Flease kindly return my copy of Extract
of Police Regulations.
I have, &c. (Sgd) D. GOURLAY.
