My Lord,
With reference to paragraph 6 of
my Despatch No. 33 of the 10th. of last February, concern-
-ing the Cust Rocks Buoy, I have the honour to inform Your
Lordship that I am advised by the Harbour Master that one
spare buoy is necessary to replace any one of the three
existing buoys if damaged.

The Hongkong and Whampoa Dock
Company have stated that they are prepared to make a buoy
similar to those previously supplied by them and including
one and one-quarter tong ballast, cement, sand, and steel
punchings for the sum of $2,150. An additional sum of
$300 is estimated for 15 fathoms of 2 inch chain, and $100
for labour, making the total estimated cost $2,550,
for
the inclusion of which sum in the Estimates for next year
I have the honour to request Your Lordship's sanction.
