My Lord,

With reference to paragraph 6 of

my Despatch No. 33 of the 10th. of last February, concern-

-ing the Cust Rocks Buoy, I have the honour to inform Your

Lordship that I am advised by the Harbour Master that one

spare buoy is necessary to replace any one of the three

existing buoys if damaged.

2.

The Hongkong and Whampoa Dock

Company have stated that they are prepared to make a buoy

similar to those previously supplied by them and including

one and one-quarter tong ballast, cement, sand, and steel

punchings for the sum of $2,150. An additional sum of

$300 is estimated for 15 fathoms of 2 inch chain, and $100

for labour, making the total estimated cost $2,550,

for

the inclusion of which sum in the Estimates for next year
