I may observe for Your Lordship's

information that the annual average number of casualties

of British-Indian Police is estimated at 72, those invalid-

-ed at 11. The total Sikhs and Mohanmedans employed as

Police is 410 including men seconded to other Departments

and to Private Firms, in about equal numbers, and the

total in private service, on the Railway, and as watchmen

etc., is estimated at nearly 1,000.
