sir,

Government House,
Hongkong, 15th. July, 1907.
Referring to your letter No. 76 of the 30th.
of May and to previous correspondence, I have the honour to
enquire whether the Chinese Authorities have yet come to a
decision on the question of suspending the minting of Subsidiary
Ceins for a period of 5 years.
$
The three months during which issue of such
coins was suspended has expired and it would be disastrous were
the Chinese Authorities to resume the issue before the coinage
has been re-habilitated.
I should also be obliged for information as
to the "ineness and quantities issued or being issued of the
new Canton Dollars.
Britannic Pajesty's Consul-General,
I have oto..
(sd.) F. E. May,
Officer Administering the Govern-
-ment.
