I have the honour to forward, in
duplicate, a letter I have received from Mr. A. G. Wise,
Puisne Judge, asking for a reconsideration of the decision
regarding his pensionable service which was conveyed to
the then Governor in Secretary of State's Despatch No. 187
of the 24th. November, 1893. (See also Despatch No. 43 of
18th. February, 1892.)

Mr. Wise has proved himself a
most able Magistrate and Judge, and has, I am informed,
done much work for Government outside his routine duties.
The Chief Justice has frequently spoken to me of his quite
unusual rapidity and ability, while his judgments are so
entirely trusted by the Chinese Community that they are
practically never appealed against.

In these circumstances and in
view of his long and invaluable services to this Colony,
