I would add that Mr. Gale, while

drawing a dollar salary, was entitled to leave pay at the
rate of 4 shillings and pension at the rate of 3 shillings
and 8 pence to the dollar.

I do not propose for the present
to fill the vacancy which will be caused through the pro-
-motions recommended.
