Foreign Office, July 18, 1907. I AM directed by Secretary Sir E. Grey to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 3rd instant forwarding the views of the Government of Hong Kong on the proposals made by the Chinese Government for the gradual abolition of the use of opium in China as far as those proposals concern the Colony.
I am to request that the Hong Kong Government may be asked by telegraph to send a copy of their despatch of the 15th May last direct to His Majesty's Minister at Peking, who will be requested to telegraph his recommendations on the subject.
