The Chinese Engineering and Mining Company to Foreign Office.-(Received October 19.} Sir,
22, Austin Friars, London, October 18, 1907. REFERRING to the Agreement between this Company and the Imperial Japanese Minister in Peking, dated the 2nd December, 1905, of which I sent you a copy on the 19th January, 1906, I now beg to hand you copy of a letter to Major Nathan, this Company's Agent and General Manager in China, from Mr. Y. Uchida, Imperial Japanese Minister at Peking, dated the 7th February, 1906, stating that the Agreement above mentioned has received the ratification of the Imperial Government as required by Article 8 thereof.
With reference to the Agreement dated the 24th May, 1907, between this Company and Baron Mumm, the Imperial German Minister in Peking, of which I sont you a copy on the 9th July, 1907, Major Nathan points out that the Agreement in question did not include, any ratification clause, and that ratification is consequently
unnecessary.

Japanese Legation, Peking, February 7, 1906. WHILE confirming my note of the 3rd December last, I beg to inform you that the Agreement concluded between us in regard to the land under the occupation of the Japanese troops at Chin Wang Tao has received the ratification of the Imperial Government, as required by Article 8 of the same.
