If a consignor requests particularly that his goods shall be treated in transit as valuables, they shall be dealt with as specified above according to the class under which they fall.

9. Primage shall also be charged on valuables, as follows:-

(2.) In cases of overweight, the difference between the freight calculated according to the proper weight and that originally calculated.

(3.) Where articles on which different freights are leviable are mixed together, the difference between the freight on the total weight calculated according to the highest freight payable on any of the articles so mixed together and that originally calculated.

16. The minimum freight for all parcels, save those which are the subject of This minimum shall not be reduced even in the special regulation, shall be 10 sen. caso of articles transported at half the ordinary rate, or on which discount is allowed.

17. In calculations a fraction of a kin shall be considered a kin, a fraction of a mile a mile.

Dead Bodies.

10. The freight on a dead body shall be 30 sen per mile per body, with a minimum charge of 6 yen.

The body of a child under 12 years of age shall, however, be charged at half rate.

Ashes, after cremation (if inclosed in a box or urn), shall pay double the freight levied, as per Article 3, on ordinary parcels, with a minimum charge of 20 sen.

Small Living Animals.

11. The freight chargeable on small living animals shall be as follows:-

(1.) On small dogs, small birds, or other small living animals (if in a cage or box), twice that leviable, in accordance with Article 3, on ordinary parcels, with a minimum charge of 20 sen.

(2.) On dogs (excepting small dogs secured in a box)—

The following articles only shall for the time being be transported at half the rate payable on ordinary parcels -

(N.B.-The minimum charge shall be 10 sen.)

Fruit, vegetables, fresh fish, milk, ice, boiled fish, broiled fish, Hirano water, ginger ale, lemonade, &c.

12. If hand-luggage, merchandize carried by pedlars or hawkers, parcels, or small animals accompanying passengers are not taken delivery of within twenty-four hours after arrival, and in the case of other small parcels, valuables, and small animals, within twenty-four hours after notice has been given of their arrival, storage commission shall be payable on the scale herewith appended :-

(1.) Ordinary parcels and hand luggage, 5 sen for every twenty-four hours or fraction thereof.

13. If a dead body is not taken delivery of within six hours after its arrival, all charges incurred by the said delay in taking delivery shall be repayable to the Company.

Miscellaneous Regulations.

14. If the metal check given in exchange for hand-luggage deposited be lost or destroyed, a charge of 30 sen shall be leviable for each check thus lost or damaged.

15. If, after the receipt of hand-luggage or parcels for dispatch, it has been found that a mistake has been made in their classification, or that they are of excess weight, freight shall be payable according to the scale herewith appended :--

(1.) In the case of articles not properly classifiable as hand-luggage, and found therein included, freight according to their proper classification.
