With reference to my telegram No. 101

instant I have the honour to transmit to you, herewith,

copy of a despatch which I have received from Wis

Majesty's Consul at Swatow reporting on a local outbreak

at luangkang, a place on the coast some 40 miles orth

of Swatow, the accounts of which in the bative newspapers

seem to have been grosaly exaggerated.

As I had the honour to inform you in my telegram

above mentioned His Majesty's Consul at Amoy has reported

the country from there to beyond Champu to be free from

disturbances, but the Wai Wu Pu informed me on June 6 that

the state of affd re in the province of Kwangtung was

causing them grave anxiety.

On the 4th instant the communi

cated te me a telegram from the Viceroy at Canton reporting

that Bun Yat Sen was living & Hongkong with his fellow

conspirator Teng Tau-ya and that they had collected
