Sir:-
I have received your despatch No.1 Commercial
of January 26th last, respecting the expenditure of
£3.4.9., incurred in the passages from Salaverry
to Callao of two destitute Hindus.
If the amount cannot be recovered out of the
men's wages, it should be charged to the Government
of Hongkong or to the Government of India.
I regret that it will not be possible to pass
this item in your account of Extraordinary Disburse
ments.
