mans, living in the Shalofaka Shed in San Pui,
80 11 from the Port.
Petitioners came to Samoa on the fair words of
the man inviting people to come; but since their
arrival at the Port, they have never had any rest.
They work over the contracted time. The food is
poor and they are usually confined and beaten. These
even are trifling in comparison with the hostility
of the Chinese overseer who, in less than half a
year, has done 5 men to death and whose extortion iɛ
unbearable.
