On the 10th of September last a Memorandum was
communicated to the French Ambassador suggesting that
in view of certain considerations adduced, the French
Government might see their way to prohibiting the
manufacture of morphia in China by their nationals.
No reply having been received to this Memoran-
dum, the enquiry is now made whether a communication
on the subject may be expected soon.
