"Tai Yik" fired on the "Do Sai," and a guard of soldiers on the latter replied, with the result that a pirate on the "Tai Yik" was killed. The pirates then tried to board the "Do Sai," and a collision took place, which damaged the "Tai Yik" starboard bow and separated the two launches. There was then a running fight for about ten minutes, resulting in no further casualties, and the escape of the "Do Sai" to Luk To. The pirates took the " Tai Yik" to Koo Moo Hang, at the mouth of the river opposite to Luk To, and landed there at about 2:30 A.M,
The crew of the "Tai Yik" then steamed the launch to Takhing, reported the matter to the authorities, landed the body of the dead pirate, and then proceeded to this port, where they arrived on the 29th October.
During the whole of the time the pirates were in possession of the "Tai Yik" the passengers were kept below in the fore cabin.
There are numerous bullet holes in the awning and woodwork of the "Tai Yik," which I have seen personally, and the starboard bow is damaged as if by a violent collision.
