the 18th. ultimo on the subject of the compensation to
be deшnded from the Chinese Coverment for the loss
sustained hy the owners of the Staquship *Sainam" on
the West River for the piratical attack racantly unde
on it.

wente put forward in your latter in favour of a douand
for consequential drumges have ruceived careful con-
sideration hut that His Majesty's Covernment munt, ad-
hera to the decision arrived at that no claim shall be
made on the Chinass Covernment, except for actual lossen
sustained and for compensation for personal injuries.
