In reply to Mr. Lucas' letter of the 13th instant
(16561/07) relative to the Colonial Ordinance respecting
the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, I am
directed by the Lords Commissioners of His Majesty's
Treasury to acquaint you for the information of the Secre-
tary of State for the Colonies that They see no objection
to the Ordinance as drafted, and that They agree that it
may now be enacted without the suspending clause, provided
that it is passed in the terms of the draft now sent.
