With reference to the letter from this Department of the 27th March last (M.7377) stating that His Majesty the King had been pleased to award a Silver Medal for Gallantry in Saving Life at Sea to Mr Ernest Henry Grainger, Chief Officer, and a Bronze Medal for Gallantry in Saving Life at Sea to Mr Albert Maurice Harvey, 2nd Engineer, of the Steamship "Heung Shan", of Hong Kong, in recognition of their services in assisting to rescue the passengers and crew when that vessel stranded at Hong Kong during a typhoon on the 18th September last, I am directed by the Board of Trade to transmit to you,herewith, the Medals in question, and to request that you will be so good as to move the Earl of Elgin to cause them to be forwarded through
the usual channel for presentation, and to give instruct - ions that receipts may be obtained and sent to this Department in due course.
I am also to request that the accompanying let- ters addressed to Mr Graiger and Mr Harvey may be handed
to them.
