I have the honour to transmit for the

consideration of the Secretary of State, with reference

to our letter of the 11th December 1906, a copy of an account which we have received from the Consulting Engineers for fees and expenses

involved in Mr.A.J. Barry's visit to Hong Kong to report upon the progress of the works of the Kowloon-Canton Railway.

2. In comparison with the sum which would have had to be paid if a member of the firm had gone out specially for the purpose the charge is very reasonable.

I have therefore to request the Secretary of State's authority to pay it.
