In due course my local Inspector (Mr. R.J. Preston) tested every individual pipe under the specified pressure of 1,500 lbs. per square inch. I regret to say that Mr. Preston died in August 1904, and I am therefore unable to refer this complaint to him. He reported to me on the completion of his inspection of these Pipes as follows:-
"I beg to report having inspected, tested and passed the Tubes for above, viz:-
Tons Cwt Qrs Lbs. 206 - 5" Tubes approximate 19 10 0 0 212 - 6" 21 10 0 0 41The Tubes have all been tested to 1,500 lbs. per square inch.
