In continuation of my despatch No.247 of the 28th September last, I have the honour to report that a sentence of death passed by the Court on the 21st ultimo on one William Hall Adsetts was carried out on the 13th instant in Victoria Gaol.

2. Shortly after sentence was passed the prisoner confessed having committed the crime, alleging that he was in a state of intoxication at the time and received provocation. The matter was considered by me in Executive Council. The Council unanimously advised that the law should take its course and I concurred in their view.

3. The prisoner a few days before his execution submitted some letters addressed to his comrades and others and one for publication. They were to the general effect that he had under the Chaplain's teaching gained Salvation and would not exchange his cell and
