Quantity Source Result Remarks 5C.C. Human Dead in 3 days. Buboes were found in each axilla and in one groin. Here no mesenteric bubo. The small intestine was black with congestion and on resection showed changes typical of intestinal infection. Smears made from the intestine showed bacilli typical of plague was confirmed by subsequent cultures and experiments made upon a guinea pig. 5C.C. Guinea pig Dead in 2 days. The guinea pig found dead on the 2nd day died of septic plague; had a cervical bubo; there were no intestinal lesions. 12'1 4th day. One showed cervical bubo; the other had cervical bubo plus intestinal lesions. The pigs showed no symptoms. The one was killed after a month and found to be perfectly healthy. It was injected subcutaneously with a similar broth culture and died in 3 days. 5 C.C. Rat 11 dead 10 e.c. Human + 10 c.c. Human 5 dead 3 days. The first five died of acute septic plague with no intestinal lesions. The 3 dead after 5 days showed intestinal plaques. One had a cervical bubo. 2 remained alive for 1 month when they were killed and found perfectly healthy. All remained alive and healthy. 3 C.C. Guinea Pig Died 3 days. The others remained alive and healthy. 2 C.C. Guinea Pig 1 dead 4th day. The other remained healthy. But this died of bubonic plague. This pig showed typical intestinal plague.
