A. Experiments on Guinea Pigs.

guinea pigs, used for these experiments, Weighed the an average 200-300 grammes. Before being used for Experimentation, the animals were isolated you at least a week for purposes of

observation.

Feeding with fresh humans to sues teeming with B. pestis.

Method: A small piece of fresh spleens frow as plague cadaver was obtained, and

on microscopic Examination found to be full of B. pestis. The tissue was then pounded up

a clean mortar, and more or less definitely weighed portions of the pulp were mixed with boiled & ground rice in sterile dishes. The rice was specially selected in order to avoid the possibility of the presence tharp spicules which might injure the

mucous.
